Bush spares Libby from prison term
“I respect the jury’s verdict,” Bush said in a statement. “But I have concluded that the prison sentence given to Mr. Libby is excessive. Therefore, I am commuting the portion of Mr. Libby’s sentence that required him to spend thirty months in prison.”
Paris gets an unusually log sentence, and Libby has his sentence commuted. Justice!

This *really* pisses me off. The problem is that the Dems don't take national security seriously enough to go on the offensive like they need to. This guy outed an active agent, exposed active networks and may have compromised foreign agents or even innocent foreign dupes of the CIA. And Bush lets him go. We had better see some outrage from the Dems. A lot of outrage. They had better force the GOP hopefuls to take a stand one way or another on this issue and then use their responses to beat them up or beat Bush up. I'm trying to believe that the system can be salvaged, but I am having my doubts.
